You may have come across the Unknown Device ACPI\VEN_INT&DEV_33A0 error in the details tab of the properties of an unknown device. Windows isn’t able to recognize the device and the Device Manager displays it as an Unknown Device. This leaves users confused because they also aren’t able to identify what it is.
What is ACPI\VEN_INT&DEV_33A0?
ACPI\VEN_INT&DEV_33A0 itself is the application driver for Intel Smart Connection Technology.
Intel Smart Connect Technology will periodically wake a sleeping computer up to re-establish a network connection. This means that applications that use the internet such as email and social media are able to stay synced and updated. The system then goes back to sleep mode once content has been updated.
Here are a few methods for solving the problem:
Method One: Update Drivers for the Unknown Device through the Device Manager
Check the website of the company that manufactured your motherboard to see if there are any driver updates or configuration utilities you can use. This link should prove useful:
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?ProductID=3470&DwnldID=23109&lang=eng&iid=dc_rss
Step One: Download the latest driver, such as Intel Smart Connect Technology 5.0.exe
Step Two: Wait for the download to finish and then install the driver using the onscreen instructions. Reboot your computer and see if the Unknown Driver is still there.
There is another problem you need to be aware of and that is the error message “Perform Check Failed”. This happens when the BIOS Setting is disabled so you can’t run the setup properly. You have to enable the bios from the firmware interface provided by the manufacturer. You can also download the program from the manufacturer’s website. This software will automatically adjust the BIOS settings and change them for you.
